After the 4th of July life seems to fly by at lightning speed. The summer disappears before your very eyes and all of a sudden it is time to go back to school. Time to return to the laborious homework, teacher-parent meetings, and endless sports games.
Luckily, Labor Day provides that final long weekend before the hectic school year kicks in. You want to relax, take time with family, and soak up a few more New Orleans rays before the summer is through.
Here at Harmon, Smith, & Vourvoulias, LLC, we have the same exact mindset. We thought we’d share a few relaxing ways to spend your weekend!
Check out the Audubon Nature Institute– With a zoo, aquarium, IMAX Theater, parks, and even a golf course, the Audubon Nature Institute has something for everyone in the family. If you are looking for a relaxing afternoon, pack lunch and head out to the Audubon Park. Play tennis, take a jog, or play a round of golf at this historic park. With countless trees shading the endless greenery, you’ll be able to escape the heat. If the Louisiana temperature gets to you though, the park’s pool is the ideal place to cool off.
Take a ride on the Steamboat Natchez: What better way to spend your Labor Day then on the water in historic style? The Steamboat Natchez provides for an authentic ride down the Mississippi River. Offering dinner jazz, brunch, and harbor jazz cruises, you are sure to have a solid evening with the sensational food and rolling scenery. What a way to see New Orleans?
Stroll through the Garden District: If being on land is more your style, taking a leisurely stroll through the NOLA Garden District could be the way to do it. Stop for lunch in a bistro and take a look around at the historic buildings. The immaculate 19th century homes will make you stop dead in your tracks.
Regardless of your plans, or lack of them, have a leisurely and family filled Labor Day weekend and good luck on the first day of school!
