If you’re looking for a fun, family-friendly festival this Memorial Day weekend, be sure to check out the New Orleans Greek Festival. The New Orleans Greek Festival has been taking place annually since 1973, and this year’s event promises to be bigger and better than ever to celebrate the 40th anniversary.
The 2013 New Orleans Greek Festival will be taking place over Memorial Day weekend (May 24th, 25th, and 26th).
Additional details are still in the works, so the remainder of this article will center on details from last year; however, many things such as the entrance fee and location are expected to be the same this year. Last year’s event took place at 1200 Robert E. Lee Blvd (on the corner of Robert E. Lee Blvd and St. Bernard Ave). Parking was available at John F. Kennedy High School with complimentary shuttle service to and from the Greek Festival.
Admission was just $5 and children under 12 were free.
The 2012 New Orleans Greek Festival activities included:
- Rock climbing up to 24 feet into the air, with the most difficult level known as “Mount Olympus”
- Face painting
- Games
- Bounce houses
- Rentable canoes
- Live Greek music
- Cathedral tours
- Hellenic dance displays
- The Greek Festival Run/Walk Race
