Residents of New Orleans know that November is one of the largest festival months of the year. Trust us: there is a festival, party, event, or fair to your liking; you just have to search for it.
In the spirit of the festivities, we at Harmon, Smith & Vourvoulias have pulled together a list of Louisiana festivals in November:
- Louisiana Renaissance Festival: Three hundred costumed medieval characters create a Renaissance village in Hammond, Louisiana. Enjoy live stage shows, jousting, craft demonstrations, falconry, and music. Nov. 2-8.
- Rayne Frog Festival: We said there’s something for everyone, didn’t we? The Frog Festival provides rides, crafts, food, racing and jumping competitions, and of course, a bullfrog derby. Nov. 8-10.
- Treme Creole Gumbo Festival: New Orleans brass bands and a large art market highlight this free event in Louis Armstrong Park. Oh, and you have to try one of the many gumbo vendors for a true taste of Louisiana. Nov. 9-10.
- New Orleans Fringe Festival: Don’t miss the original avant-garde theater performances in more than forty nontraditional venues. Many groups are from all across the U.S. and overseas. Nov. 20-24.
- Beujolais Festival: Taste French wines, cocktails, and food to celebrate one of New Orleans’s richest cultural heritages. Nov. 21.
- Bayou Classic: This is the fortieth season that Grambling State University and Southern University will meet for the big game. Celebrate with a parade, golf tournament, and battle of the bands. Nov. 28-Dec. 1.
- Fall Harvest Festival: Enjoy arts, crafts, and farm demonstrations in Grant, Louisiana. With hayrides and fun, also be sure to check out the Syrup Mill. Nov. 30-Dec. 14.
This is just a small slice of all the festivals and events going on in New Orleans and across Louisiana this month. Check out this article from The Times-Picayune to see everything that’s happening.
