Where To Eat

New Orleans is a foodie heaven, with an incredible array of dining choices. From po’ boys to pralines, there are very diverse selections of dining options.  Here are a couple of our recommendations:

Commander’s Palace: A unique blend of modern New Orleans cooking blended with Haute Creole, ran by Executive Chef Tory McPhail, winner of James Beard Foundation’s Best Chef: South award

Emeril’s Restaurant: Chef Emeril Lagasse, the James Beard Foundation’s Humanitarian of the Year, serves his own style of “New New Orleans” cuisine.

August: Contemporary French using primarily ingredients found in New Orleans, run by Chef John Besh, one of Food & Wine’s “Top 10 Best New Chefs in America.

Things To Do

Some of the most popular attractions in New Orleans include a Mississippi riverboat ride as well as the historical New Orleans streetcars.  Another highly recommended activity is a visit to St. Louis Cathedral in Jackson Square, the Harrah’s Casino, and the immaculate Southern mansions in the Garden District.  If you have any extra time, the Louisiana State Museum and the National World War II Museum are also worth a visit.

All of us here at Harmon, Smith & Vourvoulias, LLC, hope this guide gives you some great ideas for when you celebrate Mardi Gras in New Orleans.  We urge you however to be safe, and to make sure to take a cab home or designate a driver before the evening’s festivities if you plan on drinking.
